My 3D Printing Setup
3D printing has become a core part of how I build and customize my smart home. From custom enclosures for ESP32 sensors to mounts for security cameras, most of the physical accessories in my setup are designed and printed in-house. Here’s what I’m running.
BambuLab X1 Carbon
My primary workhorse. The X1C handles multi-material prints, engineering filaments (ASA, ABS, carbon fiber nylon), and high-speed production prints. It’s the printer I reach for when dimensional accuracy and surface finish matter — enclosures, mounts, and anything that needs to hold up outdoors.
Key specs: CoreXY, enclosed + heated chamber, LiDAR bed leveling, 500mm/s max speed, AMS multi-material support
BambuLab P1S
The second printer in the fleet. The P1S handles overflow work and longer batch prints — brackets, clips, and prototypes where I don’t need the X1C’s full feature set. Enclosed like the X1C, so it handles ABS and ASA without issues, and it’s fast enough that I rarely feel bottlenecked.
Key specs: CoreXY, enclosed, 500mm/s max speed, AMS compatible, WiFi/LAN connectivity
My Designs on MakerWorld
I publish my smart home 3D printing designs on MakerWorld. You’ll find enclosures, mounts, brackets, and other functional prints — all designed for real-world use in my own home.
